Spot and Manage Orphan Nights in Your freetobook Diary

Do you ever end up with one or more empty nights between bookings that are difficult to fill?

We call these ‘orphan nights’ at freetobook. They’re gaps in your diary where the nights left available don’t meet your usual minimum stay requirements, making them difficult for guests to book.

For example, if you have a three-night minimum stay but only two nights available between bookings, those two nights could be left empty.

Our new Orphan Nights feature helps you spot gaps in your freetobook diary, so you can decide whether you want to do something about them or leave them as they are.

What can you do about orphan nights?

Not every gap needs to be filled. You might be happy to leave a couple of nights empty rather than take a very short booking, especially if it means an extra clean or changeover.

But if you’d like to make those dates available, you have a couple of options:

  • Make an exception to your minimum stay for the dates in that gap, allowing guests to book a shorter stay.
  • Adjust the rate for those dates to make them more appealing, alongside making the necessary minimum-stay adjustment.
  • Leave the gap as it is if you’d rather not accept a shorter booking.

Any changes you make only apply to the dates in that particular gap. Your usual rates and minimum stay settings remain unchanged for the rest of your diary.

The choice is yours. Orphan Nights just makes it easier to spot those gaps and decide what works best for your property.
