Case study: Glangwili Mansion

Switching to freetobook helped to nearly triple their percentage of direct bookings from 30% to a whopping 84% commission free.

Winners of the Best Place To Stay category at the National Tourism Awards for Wales 2015. "Family and friends thought we were crazy," recalls Linda. "But only one was brave enough to say so." Sitting at the edge of the Brechfa Forest, just north of the bustling market town of Carmarthen, Glangwili Mansion is ideally located for visitor attractions including The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Ffos Las Racecourse and Dylan Thomas's Laugharne.

After a long and arduous 16-month renovation project, the transformation was complete and Glangwili Mansion opened its doors to guests in September 2008. George and Linda's hard work paid off immediately with a 5* grading from Visit Wales as well as a national tourism Gold Award in their first year of opening. Flash forward to now and Glangwili Mansion is the winner of the Best Place to Stay, Guest Accommodation category at the National Tourism Awards for Wales 2015.


The 'freetobook affect'

"This last year it's the business side that has gone through a complete transformation as a result of switching over to freetobook. With their channel manager I no longer have to manage two diaries and run the risk of double booking. Utilizing all of the freetobook products we have managed to completely reverse our direct booking acquisition from 30 percent to 84 percent direct bookings" says Linda. 

"FabPay, freetobook's credit card payment system has revolutionized our cash-flow, virtually eliminating the seasonal peaks and troughs.  We now hold a non-refundable deposit for the first night's accommodation from the moment a booking is made so during the quieter months, this helps to keep cash-flow on an even keel.

Our visitors come from all over the world and all walks of life.  Some are escaping London for the weekend and arrive on the front lawn by helicopter while others stay with us to celebrate treasured anniversaries with loved ones.

But most importantly all of our guests get the same welcome and, as it's just the two of us, enjoy a consistently five star level of service."
